The daughter of alchemists in Wayrest, Meera showed an aptitude for magic from a young age. When she had finally saved enough money to leave home, she set out for Cyrodiil, intending to visit relatives in the Imperial City and then enroll in the Arcane University. Immediately upon her arrival in the city, she was set upon by several muggers and promptly set them on fire, at which point she and the muggers were all arrested. The rest is a very long story.

Meera doesn't make good first impressions. She's distant and frequently irritable; losing so many friends has left her angry at just about everyone (and largely herself), but get past that and she cares all too much about those around her. Before the Crisis she was optimistic and self-assured, but she's lost all that now. Though she wants to reach out to others, she isolates herself.

She does not like being famous, does not like being reminded of what she did -- and how badly she believes she failed -- and does not like talking about what happened to her, though she is fiercely proud of her status as a Blade and even more vehemently defensive of anything to do with Martin. She will have no truck with Daedra or those who worship them -- she still dreams of the Deadlands, after all.

She is not particularly tactful about any of this.

She's loyal to a fault, somewhat single-minded, and a follower rather than a leader, so once she's found a purpose, that purpose becomes everything to her. Martin remains her single biggest weak point; she blames herself for being too slow, for not protecting him well enough, and she thinks it's selfish to mourn the loss of her friend when his death meant so much more than that. (Essentially the only other character who survived her main quest run was Baurus, and though they're still close the two of them enable each other's guilt over failing to protect Martin.)

After Martin's death she shrank from the public eye, including resigning from the Mages' Guild, and only requests for help she couldn't bring herself to turn down kept her from completely retreating.  Regardless, though, Meera soon threw herself wholeheartedly into various rebuilding projects, eventually taking up semipermanent residency in Kvatch, where she trains destruction when she's not hauling stones around.

Never much one for conjuration, she swore it off entirely after the Crisis; however, she's a natural fire mage capable of dealing huge damage and is quite skilled in alteration and restoration as well. Technically a nightblade, she favors light armor over robes and knows her way around a sword.

Devout before and during the Crisis, Meera is now distant from the Divines, but she'll revert to swearing fluently by Talos and Akatosh when she's upset.
